Townshend Residence

Additions and Alterations | 150m² | expected completion end 2021

Townshend Residence sits on the corner of a mix used area in Subiaco. An orthodox site surrounded by unorthodox mix uses from a spiritual church, drug rehabilitation clinic, multi-residential apartment and offices. This site thrives on its relation to potential passive natural light and ventilation. Being well protected, the front of the house was originally built in the 1920s with an extension to the rear (west) in the 80s.

Our proposal was to accomodate a young family by removing the 80s extension that was poorly planned and create a second floor for bedrooms and games. The ground floor would be rejuvenated into a family orientated living space with close connection to outdoor gardens, dining, and courtyards.
