An additions and alterations project was undertaken for a charming 1920s workers cottage, which had unfortunately experienced some poorly executed renovations over the years. Nestled in the vibrant suburb of Subiaco, just a block away from the lively Rokeby drag, this cottage is positioned on a corner lot that showcases a fascinating mix of architectural typologies. The area benefits from a rich tapestry of residential styles, adding character and diversity to the neighborhood.

One of the cottage’s significant advantages is its natural surroundings, notably the lush overgrown trees that provide ample shade and a sense of privacy from the Street. This greenery not only enhances the overall aesthetic of the property but also offers environmental benefits like improved air quality and insulation from noise.

The original layout of the house featured two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which has since been thoughtfully transformed into a comfortable three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence. This was accomplished while meticulously maintaining the original building envelope. The renovation prioritizes the importance of natural light and ventilation, ensuring that each space within the home is airy and bright. Modern enhancements integrated into the historical framework allow for a harmonious blend of old and new, creating a living environment that caters to contemporary lifestyles while honoring the cottage’s historical roots.
